Sex and Christianity

The Gospels never speak about sexuality, except in two instances in which Jesus, to the astonishment of his followers, forgives prostitutes.

Indeed, the Christian message is found in the Beatitudes (“Blessed are those who suffer for righteousness’ sake...”), and in the works of mercy (“feeding the hungry...”). The role of women was considered so self-evident at the time that there was no need to mention it.

Even today, with regard to relations between the sexes, the Catholic Church does not rely on Gospel precepts (which are virtually nonexistent), but rather on a morality based on natural law.
