Hunger and Famine

In the past, people died of hunger because of famines; but for a long time now, deaths from starvation have occurred when aid (generally from Western countries) has been unable to reach people because of wars.

The last major episodes of death from starvation, with many millions of victims, in peacetime occurred in Russia, China, and Cambodia under communist regimes. Even today, Ukrainians accuse Russia of having caused mass starvation in their country, which was the breadbasket of Europe (Holodomor: death by starvation).
