The Poor in the West
In reality, the new poor in the West are very often the very people who arrive on overcrowded migrant boats, risking their lives in order to be poor in our countries instead.
During the great waves of European emigration to America, it was mainly the poorest who left. By contrast, among those migrating to the West today are often the most active, the most enterprising, the best educated, and even those with some financial means.
Those who are starving, on the other hand, usually remain where they are, waiting for someone from our countries to bring them food.
I believe that emigration does not help the countries people deprives them of their most active and capable members.
