Fanaticism and Holiness
It depends on how we judge a person's behavior: if we disapprove of it, we call it fanaticism; if we approve of it, we call it goodness or holiness.
Were Saint Francis and the Christian martyrs fanatics or saints? Are vegetarians good people or fanatics? Were those who chose to die while attacking the Twin Towers heroes, shahid (that is, martyrs), or fanatics?
