Some ultra-Orthodox Jews, known as the Neturei Karta (whose name means "Guardians of the City"), oppose the very existence of the State of Israel because they believe that only a prophet or the Messiah sent by God can legitimately restore Israel.

Compared with them, one could jokingly say that the ayatollahs seem almost moderate and secular.

Reality is always complex: people tend to see themselves as being right from their own point of view, whether they are members of Neturei Karta, followers of Ruhollah Khomeini, supporters of Osama bin Laden, or others. This does not mean that all viewpoints are equally valid or morally equivalent, but rather that people generally understand and justify their own beliefs from within their own worldview.
