Secularism and Islam
Italy is a secular country because the majority of its population is secular. If it were ever to become predominantly Islamic, it would become an Islamic country governed by sharia law.
That was what Oriana Fallaci feared; however, I am convinced that conversions of Italians to Islam are rare and insignificant cases. Nevertheless, if the declining birth rate from which we suffer continues as it is now, in a few centuries we will be replaced by other ethnic groups: if they are Islamic, Italy will no longer be a secular country.
