Nobel Prizes and Jews
There is an extraordinary disproportion between the number of Nobel Prizes awarded to Jewish individuals and their share of the global population. However, this disparity should be reconsidered if one more precisely defines the statistical population being used for comparison. In practice, Nobel Prizes are awarded primarily in the most advanced countries (essentially Western ones), and within those contexts, to individuals who often come from elite backgrounds (broadly speaking, the bourgeoisie).
For this reason, the relevant comparison should not be the general population as a whole, but rather the elites of the most advanced countries and the Jewish individuals who are part of them. In this light, the disparity appears significantly reduced.
