Vices and Virtues

Public vices and virtues do not always correspond to private virtues and vices. It should be noted that even someone like Eichmann, who planned the extermination of the Jews, was a normal family man (“the banality of evil,” as Arendt said), and that mafia members, at least of the old guard, were affectionate fathers and husbands (the godfather was supposed to be a serious person).
