Islamic Integration
I believe that the main problem of immigration is not cultural integration, but the difficulty of finding regular employment that does not compete with that of those already residing in the country.
However, I acknowledge that there is an issue of cultural (not genetic) integration, particularly concerning Muslims. In fact, Islam is not only a religion but also a set of laws (Sharia) that we would define as civil, regulating every aspect of life. As radical Muslims say, it is not possible for a true believer to live among infidels.
If, due to declining birth rates, we were ever to truly need immigrants, it would be much better to seek them in Eastern Europe rather than in the Middle East. A second-generation Ukrainian becomes indistinguishable from an Italian, whereas a Muslim might remain different even across generations.
