It seems obvious and inevitable to me that states try to support favorable parties in other states: during the Cold War as well as in the fight against fundamentalism, this even led to bloody armed interventions.

It seems to me, for example, absurd to accuse Russia of a hostile attack (almost a form of hybrid warfare) simply because it seeks to support and promote its own positions in the West.
