In the modern world, in open-field warfare, no one has ever managed to resist the American armies, not even slightly. The problem is that after victory there are guerrilla wars which, in themselves, would never win but, at a certain point, the United States judges it more convenient to withdraw.
This is the issue that should be taken into account when assessing military interventions.
