The Two States in Palestine
Only a minority of Israelis (though a growing
one), the so-called Haredim, claim the whole of Palestine.
The majority, however, is very skeptical, because it believes this is merely a
ruse to continue the struggle against Israel, as happened with HAMAS in Gaza.
Certainly, a defeat of HAMAS would today be the most favorable outcome for the
Arabs: not by chance has the Palestinian National Authority described HAMAS
members as “sons of dogs.”
Israel would no longer be able to deny the two-state solution without losing the
support of Western countries, on which, ultimately, its very existence depends.
