Meaning of Words

Every word does not mean what it “means” (that is, it does not have a TRUE meaning) but what the speaker intends. Thus, for example, Manzoni’s bravi of the 1600s were the opposite of the modern meaning of “bravo.”
Love can refer to sexual relations, to love of God, to love of culture, and so on.
Now, if we speak about democracy, communism, absolutism, we mean those actually realized; if instead we assign personal and different meanings to these terms, then it becomes very difficult to have a meaningful discussion.
