War in Ukraine
When wars begin, no one knows how they will
end — because neither side wants to lose, since the endless deaths and
destruction would then be unjustifiable, and because hatred grows without limit.
A scenario similar to that of World War I, “the useless slaughter,” as the Pope
called it.
Our greatest concern today should be that a war unwanted by anyone might spread
across all of Europe.
This, it seems to me, is the truly important point.
