It seems infantile to interpret history and politics by thinking: "this one is crazy, that one is stupid, another one is dishonest," and so on. For every significant historical event, there are equally important motivations that we may or may not agree with.
For example, the war in Ukraine stems from the different conceptions that drive Russia and Ukraine: for the former, Ukraine is part of the Russian world (even while accepting its independence), and for the latter, it is a separate nation and Russia is an enemy.
