Nature Worship in China
The Chinese have a cult of nature; residences
are built amid gardens, in wood: they disappear as soon as maintenance is
neglected.
Even the Forbidden City does indeed have a stone base, but the wooden
constructions are all modern reconstructions.
Perhaps what remains is the Great Wall, but the part that can be seen is, in
fact, also fairly recent: it is made up of two walls filled with earth in
between, in order to better withstand artillery; they are not ancient walls.
