Civilizational Superiority

All civilizations believe they are superior. This almost inevitable illusion stems from the fact that we judge others according to the parameters of our own civilization, and we therefore inevitably feel superior to those who have different parameters. They, in turn, feel superior to us.

For example, the veiling of women seems barbaric and foolish to us, but to other civilizations, we are the ones who are barbaric and foolish.

We modern Europeans, especially those on the left, tend to think that our principles are the true ones, or at least the superior ones, and therefore we fail to understand others.
