Church and Laws
As everyone knows, the idea of theocracy prevailed in the past (it is still present in the Islamic world), but we moved past that a long time ago. Therefore, TODAY (not in the past and I don't know about the future), the Church cannot intervene directly in politics except through citizens who share its beliefs. That's called democracy.
The Church is free, just like everyone else, to express its thoughts. It's then up to the citizens whether or not to follow them.
