Contradictions in Court Rulings
When a defendant is
acquitted, it means that either the prosecutor or the
judges made a mistake.
As a result, credibility is lost — especially when the
judges of the first, second, and third instance
contradict each other: how can one know who is right?
Even more so when the Court of Cassation closes the case
without even a referral, after two rulings, declaring
that the trial should never have taken place.
The case of politicians is particular because the
acquittals (which almost always occur) are not due to
doubt about the facts, but to the nonexistence of a
crime, and the ruling confirms a fact that seems
self-evident.
