Israeli Fears
Israelis believe that the Arabs will never accept the existence of Israel and
that even a two-state solution would be seen by the Arabs as merely a step
toward its eventual destruction. In short, they fear a repeat of what happened
in Gaza: once free from Israeli occupation, the only goal pursued was the (utterly
futile) attempt to destroy Israel.
Until October 7, their operations amounted to little more than pinpricks—but on
October 7, Israelis saw what would happen if the Arabs were ever truly able to
invade Israel.
