Report on the AfD
The report — with Teutonic precision — states
what everyone already knows; there’s nothing to contest.
It does not claim, in any way, that the AfD is opposed to freedom of expression
or free elections.
The issue is that they oppose Islam. Since many Muslim immigrants have German
citizenship, this aversion to Islam creates a form of discrimination that is
incompatible with the principles of democracy. In short, Muslims would take the
place of the Jews, so to speak.
It should be noted that the AfD does not engage in religious discrimination, but
rather sees an incompatibility between democratic principles and Islam.
Which, in fact, is especially true in the realm of family life. Certainly, the
compatibility between Islam and democracy appears to be a real issue — one that
is, in any case, difficult to resolve.
Paradoxically, the AfD is accused of being against an anti-democratic mindset,
and for this reason it is labeled anti-democratic
