The Age of Fascisms
In
history, it sometimes happens that certain mindsets persist almost unchanged for
centuries, and then, suddenly, they vanish almost completely in a very short
time. The immense disasters of the Second World War completely destroyed the
world in which fascist regimes could thrive.
This does not mean that one cannot re-evaluate certain elements or offer a
historical judgment of fascism that is not entirely negative — this is part of
democratic freedom.
For example, the neo-Bourbon movements: they reappraise that kingdom, celebrate
those who supported it, and even raise Bourbon flags (as they do every year
during a demonstration in Gaeta), but they certainly do not intend to restore
the Bourbon monarchy.
