Arab Intransigence
In the
Arab world, the idea is widespread that Palestine was entrusted by God to the
believers (Muslims) "until the Day of Judgment."
They use the term Waqf, which is also
the Arabic word for institutions that manage money not belonging to them, just
as believers are meant to manage Palestine, which does not belong to them but to
God.
As a result, any agreement to cede even a single portion of it would be
considered blasphemous and invalid.
There is, however, a minority among Arabs who, instead of clinging to such
delusions, would accept the two-state solution — but it is only a minority, and
in the conflict, they inevitably find themselves opposing Israel in order not to
be seen as traitors.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) is against Hamas, but now it has no choice but to
side with it.
