Evidences
At
the beginning of the 1900s, theories emerged that were in full contrast with our
self-evident truths: non-Euclidean geometries, the relativity of time and space,
the uncertainty principle, and more recently, the quantum principle.
All of this leads us to believe that what seems self-evident to us might very
well not be true.
Similarly, we were once certain that our civilization, our morals, and our
religion were the only true ones. All these certainties, in our world, have
faded away.
Many people, a few centuries ago, thought that our world, without certainties,
would collapse.
It doesn’t seem to me that it has. As for the future—who knows...
